Annual Average Daily Traffic
The annual average daily traffic (AADT) is a measure used primarily in transportation planning and transportation engineering. It’s the total volume of vehicle traffic of a highway or road for a year divided by 365 days. AADT is a useful and simple measurement of how busy the road is. It’s sometimes incorrectly reported as “average annual daily traffic”.
Annual average daily traffic is especially important when lenders assess a retail properties. Traffic counts vary based on the size of a market. For a mid-sized market, a traffic count of 45,000+ is considered a positive.
